COLLAPSE

The health sector transformational program has many strategic plans that aim to achieve, improving population health and healthcare services by utilizing E-health and increasing the quality of life, well-being, and life expectancy are an example of the quality improvement achieved. With E-Health, doctors are able to administer treatment for patients, improve decision-making to respond to the ever-growing number of diseases, conduct research and monitor public health (Alhusaini H.A, 2006). In fact, the data showed that more than 95 hospitals in the private sector were operating some sort of E-Health services, compared to just 45 hospitals in the public sector, and 44 hospitals in the private sector were accredited with E-Services as compared to 18 hospitals in the public sector. However, the kingdom of Saudi Arabia has made notable progress in improving its population’s health over recent decades, particularly in the areas of child and maternal mortality and the reduction of infectious diseases. (Chowdhury, S., Mok, D., & Leenen, L. 2021). The new model of care theme is a focal point for improved treatment and care modalities individually. (Chowdhury, S., Mok, D., & Leenen, L. 2021). It highlights the individual and their families to keep well-being and good health, through self-care, awareness, and education. More than 60,000 citizens participated in the public survey around the patient-centric design, 2500+ healthcare professionals engaged in e-discussions, and 1000+ healthcare professionals surveyed to identify improvement opportunities. (Chowdhury, S., Mok, D., & Leenen, L. 2021). However, the government highlighted Vision 2030 to gain popular support but actual action to improve population health remains limited. (Rahman, R., & Al-Borie, H. M, 2021). One of the MOH’s successful initiatives that have done during the covid 19 pandemic was utilizing E-Health through applications like sehaty, and wasfaty or E- prescription. It facilitates access to many healthcare services and increases patient satisfaction. One of the Challenges faced some technical issues were reported by the users of the applications, and there were significant differences between users and nonusers regarding their age, sex, education, and region. Al-Hazmi (A. M., Sheerah, H. A., & Arafa, A, 2021). Finally, I recommend a standardized E- health education or awareness as a quality improvement measure, to make it one resource, to improve community awareness, and reinforce the population’s health. Pre and post-assessment by conducting surveys can measure the improvement.

Introduction:
The implementation of health care transformation programs involves strategic planning to not only improve the quality and efficiency of health services but also aims at achieving other objectives like population health and well-being. In this context, e-health has been one of the key improvements, allowing doctors to administer treatment, monitor public health, and improve decision-making in the face of emerging diseases. This essay will discuss two healthcare quality improvements achieved under the Health Sector Transformation Program within Saudi Vision 2030. It will also analyze how the key objective of improving the quality and efficiency of health services applies to my previous work setting, including a quality improvement effort I was involved with. Finally, it will suggest a quality improvement project, its importance, and how it can be measured.

Two healthcare quality improvements achieved under the Health Sector Transformation program
The Saudi Vision 2030 program envisages transforming the healthcare sector and has two critical objectives to improve the quality and efficiency of health services. One of the significant quality improvements in Saudi Arabia’s healthcare sector has been through the use of e-health services. As per healthcare data, more than 95 hospitals in the private sector offer e-health services compared to only 45 hospitals in the public sector. The government aims to focus on promoting e-health technology and introduce telemedicine and inter-operable electronic health records to improve decision-making and treatment administration.

Another healthcare quality improvement achieved under Vision 2030 is the new model of care implemented in Saudi Arabia. The new model addresses the individual’s well-being and good health through self-care, patient-centric designs, and education. More than 60,000 citizens participated in identifying improvement opportunities in the new model of care. The new model focuses on a proactive approach while still maintaining medical practice standards.

Application of Key objective two to my previous work setting
Working in a university setting, I was involved in a project aimed at enhancing the quality of lectures and assessments, which aligns well with key objective two. One quality improvement project was the dynamic shift from the traditional method of assessment to project-based learning. The project-based learning approach helped address students’ needs better, addressing individual differences. The assessment of projects was multi-modal and involved peer review, self-assessment, and reflection. One significant challenge was the difficulty in grading the projects as they were not standardized, unlike traditional methods. However, the project-based approach improved student satisfaction and engagement, as evidenced from independent surveys conducted after project submissions.

One quality improvement project suggestion
A standardized E-health education program as a quality improvement measure can be suggested to supervisors. The program should aim for promoting E-health technology, telemedicine, and inter-operable electronic health records as tools for decision-making and treatment administration. The adoption of standardized e-health education programs can improve the community’s awareness and reinforce the population’s health. Measuring the effectiveness of the E-health education program can be through pre and post-assessment surveys.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, the Health Sector Transformation Program within Saudi Vision 2030 has achieved significant healthcare quality improvements, including the new model of healthcare and the promotion of e-health services. The key objective of improving the quality and efficiency of health services aligns well with the implementation of quality improvement projects in other settings like the university setting, where project-based learning was implemented. Suggesting a standardized E-health education program as a quality improvement measure could be a crucial step for future healthcare quality improvements that can be assessed through pre and post-assessment surveys.
